AMIGOS is the first and only six-level, fully articulated program for teaching elementary school children grades K - 6 authentic Latin American Spanish as a Second Language.AMIGOS is a new and revolutionary concept in teaching Spanish to grade school kids. Traditionally, Spanish programs for young children have been limited to introducing the language through the use of songs, puppets, videos and activity books. The problem with most of these programs is that they assume that children don't have the capacity to acquire a new language at such an early age, so they limit their teachings to a few isolated words and games that will have very little impact in helping students to communicate in real-life situations later on in life.
AMIGOS was created to provide a full language experience for young children. The way they'll learn should not be different than the way an adult learns. They should start listening and speaking, and later on move into reading and writing. When kids are able to use all language skills meaningfully in every day contexts they'll truly become bilingual. For this reason, children who use AMIGOS advance effortlessly through Spanish programs in secondary. They don't need to start all over again, because they now have a strong solid foundation in which they'll build true proficiency. Even as early as the 3rd level of the AMIGOS series, children are learning the same concepts that they will see in Spanish II classes in secondary.
With AMIGOS, never again teachers will need to search for additional activities or buy masters to complement their Spanish program. The curriculum in AMIGOS will cover more than a school year of class instruction, and the variety of materials will keep kids interested during all this time.
